Stepfather Review

Write about what you liked about the film, "The Stepfather". Focusing on 2 or 3 scenes which you found interesting and comment on why you found them interesting.

The Stepfather is a 2009 remake of the 1987 American thriller film of the same name. The thing I liked about the “The Stepfather” is that it was an entertaining and amazingly gripping film, I mean you would be literally on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen throughout the whole film. A particularly scene which made me feel this way is the scene when Michael and his girlfriend are in his mums and Daniel’s bedroom looking for clues as to who Daniel really is. In addition, Daniel enters the house and realises that Michael is not in the pool and he frantically starts searching every room trying to look for him. This is potentially a very important scene for the movie, as you do not actually know whether Michael is going to get out of the room without being caught by Daniel.

Another scene, which I think, is an important scene is the basement scene. In which Michael goes into the basement looking for clues as to what Michael is hiding. I found this scene particularly gripping as well because whilst Michael is searching the basement, Daniel is upstairs walking around and, as you cannot actually see where Daniel is walking to you and you are left wondering as to whether Daniel is actually going to the basement. Another reason why I like this scene is the way Michael’s phone drops to the floor and the noise it makes you are left wondering if Daniel has heard the phone drop.

Another scene I liked was the scene when Daniel is changing his whole appearance and preparing to leave his old house, you get to see his old family lying dead in the living room. In addition, as Daniel opens the door he gets a flashback, of the girl Daniel killed.  The reason why I liked this scene is the way the scene was set, I mean at the beginning of the film you would just think that Daniel is just a normal man shaving.  But in actually fact he is a mad man, who goes around killing his family once he gets bored. I also liked this scene because of the music in the background; the music is quite suspenseful which makes you want to watch more of the film to find out exactly what is going to happen.
